Dining Out is made for restaurant-goers who want to keep track of their favorite restaurants and save the details of their dining experiences. You can "follow" friends who are also using the app and get notified when they review a restaurant. When you're on the go, you can quickly check the distance to your nearest restaurants, view them on a map, and get directions in Google Maps. When you arrive at a restaurant, tap the notification to jump to the restaurant's reviews and be reminded what's good there or read tips from friends.
There are many apps available for listing nearby restaurants and reading general reviews from the public. Dining Out specializes in providing a private database where you can store the details of each of your dining experiences and focuses on reviews from trusted and like-minded friends. It can be your Dining Out diary and a social network for you and your foodie friends.
Permissions explained:
Contacts — You can "follow" friends who are also using the app and invite other contacts to join. In order to protect your privacy, your contacts' email addresses are securely hashed (made unreadable) and only the hashes are used to connect you with friends. No readable contact details ever leave your device.
Location — Local and nearby restaurants are suggested when you want to add a new one to your list. You can also sort your restaurant list by their distance from your current location and view them on a map. Your location is never stored or tracked in any way.
Photos/Media/Files — Photos of your restaurants are saved in storage so that they can be loaded quickly.
Other — Sync is enabled and network access is used to save your restaurants and reviews in the cloud, share them with friends, and synchronize them across your devices.
